Gab is a fourth year Bachelor in Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS) intern in Saint Louis University (SLU), Baguio City, Philippines. In school, he writes sports articles for the White & Blue, SLU's official student publication. As a scholar of the Philippine Association of Medical Technologists (PAMET), he consistently tops his school's Dean's List.
He had been joining local and national competitions ever since he was young. His biggest break happened last December 2011 when he won the national championship in the Philippine Statistics Quiz hosted by the National Statistics Office (NSO).
Back in high school, Gab had been a participant of the 6th Asia Pacific Regional Innovative Education Forum, which took place in Singapore last March 2010. Hosted by Microsoft Asia Pacific, the event brought together student leaders around the region to discuss topics, such as the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The event gave him the chance to study in the Sprout e-course, a program hosted by TakingITGlobal and the Pearson Foundation. Sprout was designed to give young leaders worldwide access to training in essential skills in team building, project management, communications and leveraging technology.
In 2012, Gab and his team received funding from a pharmaceuticals company in the Philippines to start a health program in a rural community in the Philippines. The health program deals on soil-transmitted helminth (STH) control and prevention among schoolchildren.
At home, Gab enjoys reading books. His favorite authors include Paulo Coehlo and Dan Brown. He also passes his time playing his guitar.
